About The Program

Public Relations and Publicity Department

The Public Relations and Publicity Department, which began its academic activities by accepting its first students in 1999, is now among the most preferred departments in the field of communication in Turkey.

Our department provides education and training with its distinguished academic staff. In addition, leading experts in the sector meet with our students through lectures and/or seminars.

Our aim in the Department of Public Relations and Publicity is to train professionals who use Turkish well and have a satisfactory knowledge of a foreign language, follow professional developments, think creatively and in a multifaceted manner, can interpret issues and problems related to the field with a critical perspective, and are committed to professional ethical values.

Throughout their four-year education, our students learn to relate their knowledge to institutional information and research data, enabling them to approach internal and external communication projects with an original perspective under both normal and extraordinary circumstances. They graduate as individuals who can manage media planning through their communication work, are knowledgeable about national and international legal issues framing the profession, take responsibility on social issues, express their ideas well, pay attention to health and safety issues, have high social skills, and can carry out interdisciplinary individual and group work.

Our students from the Public Relations and Publicity Department graduate after completing internships, which are an important practical application of their education.

Our final-year students, who are in the process of graduating, are required to design communication campaigns that they can implement as part of their ‘Final Project’ courses. They complete these projects, which they approach from all angles, by carrying out two different campaigns in the Autumn and Spring terms. The ‘Public Relations and Publicity Department Final Year Students Final Project Industry Jury’ has been held traditionally since 2012, taking place every Autumn and Spring term. The jury members consist of Department Faculty Members, experts from the communications sector, and our graduates working in this sector. The jury members' feedback on the projects enables us to understand the expectations of the sector and review our teaching objectives, while also providing a very important experience for our students who will work in the sector. In this regard, we have cooperation agreements with many companies.

Our department has agreements with an increasing number of different universities each year under the Erasmus+ student exchange programme. Our students also complete part of their studies abroad through these exchange programmes.

In addition to the 4-year programme in Public Relations and Publicity, Maltepe University's Institute of Postgraduate Education also offers a Master's Programme in Marketing Communication and a Doctorate Programme in Public Relations and Advertising.
